For most of us, the summer season means it’s time to visit the beach, host or attend outdoor parties, or maybe even enjoy a picnic on a beautiful Saturday.

Unfortunately, with the heat and humidity comes hair problems we could probably do without.

We all know how challenging it can be to keep shiny, strong hair when you don’t use conventional chemical products. Store bough hair care is designed to make your hair feel healthy when in reality the waxes and silicone are drying out your hair and doing more harm than good.

If you didn’t know, the larger molecules of oils or cream play a role in hydrating your hair, but they can’t be the only step. Just like your body, your hair needs water.

In fact, water is one of the greatest tools you can use to achieve healthy hydration.

So, to guarantee a transition from dull, lifeless hair and ensure locked-in shine and moisture all summer long, follow these easy steps 3-4 nights a week before bed.

  • Water

Fill a glass or aluminum spray bottle with distilled water. Spritz a fine mist from mid-shaft to ends. Lightly smooth this water over your hair to allow even distribution. You don’t need to soak your hair! Just a few spritzes will deliver the hydration that you need!

  • Oil

Adding a couple drops of Argan, olive, fractioned coconut or even avocado oil to the hair will deliver vitamins, nutrients and essential fatty acids to help rebuild the protein structure within your hair. This will help give your hair strength and shine.

Avoid adding oils to the roots so your hair doesn’t become excessively greasy.

If you’re hair is very fine, try a light oil like jojoba oil. If your hair is dry and coarse, try a drop of castor oil!

  • Butter

Using a butter, like Shea or Cocoa will help seal in the water and oils, preventing evaporation and allowing the nourishments that you need while you sleep!

Warm a small amount of butter onto your palms and smooth over the ends.

And in case that’s not enough, here’s an easy-to-do hair mask that can make the world of difference!

Avocado and hone have amazing effects on adding shine and strength to your hair. Honey is a natural humectant which means it draws moisture deep into the strands making it a perfect ingredient for a hair mask.

This simple recipe is a great choice for incredible shine all summer long!

  • 1 Avocado

Combine the ingredients to make a paste and apply on to your hamp hair for 20-30 minutes. Avoid applying directly to your roots.
